Higher education

Computer Systems Technical Engineering

My higher studies began at CES Felipe II, which is a center attached to Complutense University of Madrid. My faculty was located in Isabel de Farnesio building, where I completed the three courses that comprise the career. During this time, I could develop multiple mathematical and computer skills and specialize in objects oriented programming languages, website development and administration of open systems (SUSE Linux). Also I was proud to represent the University in public and carry out scholarship tasks during three months.

Research Master y PhD

Being a graduate I chose to continue my academic career carrying out a Master in Computer Research offered by the Complutense University of Madrid. During two years I studied various subjects related to Software Engineering, Machine Learning and Intelligent Agents in the Faculty of Computer Science. Finally I completed a specialization in Artificial Intelligence obtaining the Honor’s Registration grade in the defense of the End-of-Master´s Project.

After that I decided to achieve the PhD in Computer Science. My research was focused on modeling and simulating the behavior of individuals related to road traffic. In order to do this, I integrated into my project develpment paradigms as Model-Driven Engineering and Agent-Based Methodologies, with the purpose of designing a meta model capable of modelling multiple existing theories of the road traffic domain. I also completed a development framework with a set of tools for supporting and guiding the users during the process. In the PhD defense I got the highest possible grade: Excellent Cum Laude.

Complementary education

Bioinformatics course

This online course had an extension of twelve weeks and provided to me many concepts related to biology. Multiple algorithms focused on solving problems related to DNA and identification of disease genetic predispositions were studied and developed. I learned to handle some of the most important databases used in bioinformatics domain and taxonomies specifically designed to identify different species of living beings.

R programming courses

I have completed four online courses related to the analysis of data with an extension of a month each one of them. For this I used Github as a tool to share information and have handled R programming language. By the latter I built complex data structures and functions implemented to solve various problems related to data analysis and statistical tasks. I have also carried out cleansing and obtaining data operations in order to get specific information from raw data and have developed procedures to capture graphics, undertand them and apply their results.

Android course

This course introduces multiple concepts related to Android programming. It focuses on building responsive environments to encompass the largest possible amount of devices and languages. During the course I design and implement a project that consisted of developing a Connect4 game creating its logical rules and the different graphical interfaces for its proper execution.

EASSS 2015

I got a grant provided by AEPIA to go to this European summer school for young researchers. It was held at University of Barcelona and was led by members of EURAMAS. It was mainly focused on Intelligent Agents and the many topics and research fields where they are representative. I received tutorials related to Netlogo, Cooperation in Multi-Agent Systems, Agent Oriented Programming and Multi-Agent Optimization Systems.


Professional experience

Collaborative scholar

Virtual Campus

For a year and a half I was working as a collaborative scholar in Complutense University of Madrid. There I performed support tasks related to the deployment of the Virtual Campus and provide technical support to professors of Faculties of Mathematics and Physics. I was selected to give several talks on Moodle and Sakai platforms both professors and tecnical service. Also I was responsible of carrying out the real-time troubleshooting and I participated in a training course for beginning students.

Employments

Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)

I worked during two different stages in CSIC. First I applied and obtained a JAETEC training contract in the Central Organization (ORGC). There I developed maintenance and software development tasks in the human resources application called GESPER implemented through Visual Basic 6 programming language. I optimized the SQL Server 2008R database and built new modules in order to integrate a digital signature service. When my contract finished, I received a offer to return to the same place through a new contract provided by an external company. There, I continued with the development and maintenance of GESPER achieving responsabilities related to a senior and analyst programmer.

Faculty of Computer Science

I am currently working at Faculty of Computer Science at Complutense University of Madrid. Here I belong to the Natural Language Interaction (NIL) research group, being contracted in the european project ConCreTe. I perform software development tasks for producing creative applications using the natural language processing. These applications are presented to the scientific community through articles that collect the obtained results. In addition to the composition and development of these articles, I am also a member of the teaching staff performing support tasks and collaborating as a professor in certain subjects.

All the experience I could obtain over the years as both professional and academic levels has allowed me to have a set of skills to perform various tasks. I developed simulations based on related theories of a specific domain. In my workplaces I coordinated colleagues and I built new modules developing their designs and subsequent implementations. I have also published several articles at international level that have allowed to me improving my ability to synthesize and my written expression both in Spanish and English.
